Lets make a blog!

I made a blog today. I made a blog because I’m a writer who hasn’t been writing, so I thought, “Well, this will be a good excuse!” Two hours later, the image of an empty ship floating about an endless ocean was ready to broad side me with regret and I was about ready to never look at the thing again, when I had a revelation. I have been under the impression for about a year that my life is not interesting. I get up and do the same things  most days. It is mundane, trivial and ultimately incredibly boring.

Two years ago, when I was a freshman in high school I had a journal. When I had that journal, I forced myself to write. I would examine every aspect of my day and document it for myself and my life was never more interesting. When I ran out of pages in that journal and stopped writing I thought my life wasn’t interesting anymore, but it was still the same life. What had changed was that I wasn’t looking at it introspectively anymore. I’m not a famous glamorous celebrity. I’m not an important world figure or an explorer. I’m just a normal kid with a pretty normal life. Few things in this world are exciting when you just glance at it. It’s when you can take the time to examine the idiosyncrasies of it that you realize that what you thought was just another one of millions is actually individual, interesting and beautiful.

I’m going to write for the sake of writing. I’m going to force myself and push myself to see what makes my life interesting. Maybe as I do, I’ll find something that makes it worth writing about naturally. So, here goes nothing. Here comes everything. Grab a drink and sit down because I’ve got a lot to say.
